Dr. Mohammad Iqbal Shedai unpublished material published
Dr. Mohammad Iqbal Shedai was a British Indian and later Pakistani activist who fought for the independence of India from British colonial rule.
He was born in 1888 in Sialkot, a city in present-day Pakistan, to a Rajput-Bhutta family.
He was educated at Murray College, where he was a fellow student of Allama Muhammad Iqbal, the national poet of Pakistan.
He was denied admission twice
to Law College in Lahore because of his anti-British views.
Shedai joined the Anjuman-e-Khuddam-e-Kaaba, an organization that supported the defense of the Holy Kaaba and
became one of the nine Shedai-e-Kaaba (servants of Kaaba) in India.
when eight of them later Surrender that title. He also joined the Hindustan Ghadr Party, a revolutionary
movement that aimed to overthrow British rule by armed rebellion. In 1920, he migrated to Afghanistan along with thousands of other
Muslims who considered India as Darul Harb (house of war).
He became the Minister for Indian refugees in Kabul and met with King Amanullah Khan
Shedai travelled to Moscow and Ankara to learn about socialism and nationalism from the Russian Bolsheviks and the
Turkish Kemalists, visited Syria, Palestine, Egypt, he esstablished contacts with various anti-colonial movements and leaders in the
world.
Dr. Mohammad Iqbal Shedai was a revolutionery,who dedicated his life to the cause of freedom and justice.
He travelled across the world and a part of many historical events and changes.
He was a friend of many prominent figures and a leader of many movements.
He was a true Shedai-e-Kaaba who served his faith and his nation with courage and conviction.
It's a pity that Dr. Shedai never got the recognition he deserved, Dr. Shedai did his part more than good, we must appreciate and acknowledge his tremendous contribution to the history of Muslims of india & pak.
